What Led Me to FrancisCorps

I simply searched it out by asking Google to find me Catholic gap year programs and FrancisCorps struck me as I read about the program! It aligned with my hopes and desires for my “gap year” which is what ultimately led to my saying yes. I have for as long as I can remember wanted to serve in this capacity, but giving a year wasn’t something I could commit to until I graduated college. Last fall I started seeking out programs and when FrancisCorps appeared I jumped at the opportunity, especially after seeing Francis House as this was a mission that had long been on my heart. My “yes” to FrancisCorps stems from the desire to humbly serve others without expecting anything in return, and to walk alongside those striving to do the same. This year, I am most excited to serve at Francis House and share God’s unconditional love through the example of Saint Francis.

My experience moving in was honestly the smoothest move I’ve experienced yet! I was welcomed to Syracuse with so much love and am so grateful to be here. Orientation retreat in the Adirondacks was a perfect start to the year and I loved the time we got to spend with one another learning and bonding. My first couple weeks at Francis House have been incredibly special. I feel so much purpose in serving and loving everyone there that I really just feel like the luckiest girl to have this opportunity! The community I am discovering here has already been such a gift.
