Community Garden Outreach Liason at Brady Faith Center
Where will I serve? At two community gardens in the west and south side of Syracuse.
Who will I serve? Families and children in surrounding communities who come to the garden to volunteer.
What will I do? As a Garden Outreach Liaison, the end goal is to help families and the community have healthier food choices by helping them learn how to grow and sustain in their own environment. This is done through working with families and their children, the greater community, and volunteer groups.
What will my day look like?
- Lead and work along side neighbors and volunteer groups who come to the gardens.
- Help grow the exciting network of community members who support the gardens.
- Plant with children from the Brady Faith Center, Huntington Family Center, Seymour Dual Language School and other community groups with children.
- Provide overall care for both of the gardens including: plant care needs, weeding, grass care, shed organization, watering and additions.
- Coordinate the planning of the two gardens by primarily using existing bed shapes for planting needs as and creating new planting schemes.
What gifts and talents will I bring and grow in? Strong communication skills, creativity, flexibility, and knowledge of gardening and sustainability.
