Caroline Johnson, FC 17 Costa Rica

Read how Caroline’s year of service with FrancisCorps influenced her to pursue a career in public health.

FrancisCorps solidified for me the call to serve others through public health. After working for a year at Manos Abiertas with children with congenital birth defects and physical differences, I knew that I wanted to spend my life working to improve health care accessibility and quality of life for others both in the U.S. and abroad. After FrancisCorps, I pursued a master’s degree in public health and am now working in a multitude of health areas from infectious disease research to child health to women’s public health leadership, and more! I am grateful to FrancisCorps for the emphasis on living with a spirit of community that has helped me adapt to new experiences all over the world and to find my place in any and every community I encounter. FrancisCorps changed my life for the better, and I thank God for His call to serve with and for others.
