We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 service year! To begin, please fill out our application form. Once it is reviewed, you will receive links to references and pre-interview questions.
Application Form: You fill this out online. It involves basic information about yourself and some simple questions and should only take about 5 to 10 minutes to fill out. You can expect to hear from us a few days after your application is submitted regarding the next steps in the process.
Personal Reference Form: You send a link to this form to 3 people who know you well and they complete it online. Personal References are people who know you well and they can be friends, teachers, counselors, etc. It’s best to have a variety of people.
Spiritual Reference Form: You send a link to this form to one person who knows about your spiritual faith journey. Ideally it would be a member of the clergy, chaplain, or chaplaincy team member. Remember we’re not looking for perfect saints… at least not yet! Although most of our volunteers are Catholic at various points on their journey, we are looking especially for people who are real and open to grow. Please give your reference the freedom to answer the questions as honestly as possible.
Pre-Interview Questions: In preparation for your interview we will ask you to complete a few short answer questions to help both you as well as us prepare for your interview.
Interview: After we’ve received and reviewed your application, references, and pre-interview questions, we will reach out to you and schedule an interview. After the interview is complete we will get you a decision shortly thereafter, usually in a few days!
Apply Early, Get a Decision Early! Applications received before January 31 are reviewed as they arrive. We begin reviewing applications in September and you can get a decision in as little as a few weeks after you apply!
General Deadline April 1: Applications received after January 31 will be reviewed at this time.
After April 1: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis based on availability. We usually receive some late applications and may accept volunteers into the summer. It’s always worth asking if we are still accepting new volunteers!
If accepted, we will work with you to see how much time you will need to return an answer to us. If you accept our offer, the final step is to gather the remaining required information and documents to finalize your acceptance. Only when we have received and reviewed this additional documentation will your acceptance be finalized. These additional documents include:
- A current high quality digital photo of yourself
- Copy/Scan of your Birth Certificate
- Copy/Scan of your Passport Photo Page
- Copy/Scan of your Driver’s License
- Password to social media accounts (Just kidding! Way too creepy!)
- Official Transcript
- Health Assessment Form(s)
- Drug Screening/Background Check (we will help you through this process)
Once these last few elements have arrived and are confirmed, you’re in! Welcome to FrancisCorps!
International applicants must arrange for the proper immigration and visa documentation. If you wish to apply to the program, you must obtain a multiple entry B1 or B2 visa for the United States of America. All FrancisCorps applicants must be proficient in English.
