Blake (FC 17) working hard in the kitchen!

FrancisCorps volunteers reflect deeply on the experiences they are having in service and in community.   In this reflection, Blake discovers how the FrancisCorps experience has changed his understanding of the Advent and Christmas season.

Blake is spending his FrancisCorps experience serving at Francis House.  Francis House provides a home and an extended family to people with terminal illnesses so they can die with dignity and experience the unconditional love of God. This ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities in Syracuse is a highly respected home for people who need end-of-life care.  It’s a joy-filled caring environment.

As a FrancisCorps volunteer at this site, you will have the opportunity to experience various aspects of working in an effective and compassionate non-profit agency. You will balance your time between direct contact with residents, supporting them according to your abilities, preferences and qualifications and also assisting in supporting the mission of Francis House by assisting with development, fundraising, and volunteer coordination.  You will be a full member of the Francis House “team”.  Your direct involvement with the residents may take many forms.  You may simply visit and listen to their stories, assist with the day-to-day care of the house or depending on your education, you may also assist with care.

If you are interested in applying to FrancisCorps, visit our application page.  Our deadline is March 15th!
