As spring gives way to summer, we’ve been hard at work recruiting a new group of terrific volunteers for next year. The future looks bright here at FrancisCorps. But as the current FrancisCorps year draws to a close, I, like this year’s volunteers, can’t help but reflect on the past year. It’s truly been an amazing experience and such a blessing.
These volunteers are truly different people than they were when they started this experience. Erin, Brady, Caroline, and Johanna in Costa Rica and Blake, Marie, Corrinne, Ana, and Joe in Syracuse now see the world in a different way. They have become acutely aware of the complexity of living with others in an intentional way, the poverty they find in their work sites, and how their spirituality both calls them to a journey to make a difference and supports them through it. This incredible growth is a testament to these young people but it is only possible because of the generosity of others. From myself and the volunteers, I want to send a heartfelt thank you for all the support you show and continue to show FrancisCorps in your donations, your prayers, your hospitality, and your encouragement!
As I turn my attention to next year, I do so with joy knowing these fantastic volunteers will go on to do amazing things. They will take with them what they learned this year and bring it to bear in their families and careers. This is what makes FrancisCorps a life changing experience. These volunteers do not just provide service today but go on to live lives dedicated to service. I also look to next year knowing that a new group of FrancisCorps volunteers will arrive, eager to participate in a similarly life changing experience, all of us aware all we have is a gift.
In order to provide this experience anew, I invite you to join us in our Annual Appeal. FrancisCorps relies heavily on individual donations. In next year’s budget we anticipate individual donations covering 50% of total expenses. To hit that target, our goal for our Annual Appeal is $9,000.
Please give the gift of service with a donation to FrancisCorps. Your donation, no matter the size, will go a long way in helping us meet our goal! Each gift is such a blessing, so Thank You in advance!
Know you are all in our prayers and please keep the volunteers in yours as they begin the process of transitioning into the next stage of their lives.
Peace and All Good,
Alexander J. LaPoint – Director
