Volunteers

Montserrat Corbera, is 22, and all her friends call her Monsy!  She comes to Syracuse from Miami, FL and the University of Notre Dame where she was a Science/Pre-professional major.  Monsy is fluent in Spanish and brings a wide variety of experiences and leadership skills from Notre Dame and her many trips abroad including a medical internship in El Salvador, and a medical training/translator experience in Nicaragua.  She has also been a bilingual field case worker and camp counselor in Miami and a first aid services volunteer in South Bend.  She hopes to be a physician in the future.  Monsy will minister as an Assistant to the Staff at Franciscan Northside Ministries Poverello Clinic and the Assumption Food Pantry. I believe that serving humanity and God within humanity is our responsibility and the purpose of life.  My motivation stems from my compassion and from my desire to be self-sacrificing and alleviate the suffering of others.  I feel so drawn to FrancisCorps’ ministry because it exemplifies the mission statement that I so strongly believe in, which is to praise God through our everyday actions.”
