Elizabeth Bonner, 23, is from Norwalk, CT and a 2008 graduate from The Catholic University of America where she majored in Media Studies. Liz is the second volunteer to commit to a second year as a FrancisCorps volunteer and the first to do so in Costa Rica. She will continue her position as Assistant Director of Projecto de Trabajo Social at our Franciscan school in San Jose, Costa Rice. At St. Francis, Liz ministered to students of all ages as they reached out to assist the local poor. She also created an after school ‘service’ club and volunteered at a neighborhood day care center. Her background in campus ministry, campus retreats and living in a faith based community while in college all paved the way for her Costa Rican experience. While in Costa Rica this past year, Liz assisted Bro. Jim in futuring the FrancisCorps program there by researching new volunteer opportunities. She will be a very valuable asset to the experience there this year. “FrancisCorps incorporates the Gospel mission of leading by example and that calls me to want more and live simply...and FrancisCorps emphasizes community living. That’s why it appealed to me so much. FrancisCorps embodies everything I feel I’m called to do in this year of service. I’m excited to answer, “Whom shall I send?” with “Here I am Lord.”
