Rebecca Ackroyd is a 22 year old native of Groton, MA. She is a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame where she was a Science Pre-professional major with a minor in Spanish. She was also a member of the campus ministry fellowship and president of the ND Ballroom Dance Club. Besides her experience in science, Spanish and dance, she has extensive experience in a variety of service programs including working in a home for children with severe disabilities. Rebecca studied abroad in Toledo, Spain for a semester and also worked in a rural hospital in the Dominican Republic last summer. She has already been accepted to medical school, but deferred her entrance until next year in order to join FrancisCorps where she will minister as an Assistant at San Gabriel in downtown San Jose, Costa Rica, a clinic for terminally ill children.

“I strongly value the emphasis FrancisCorps places on living in community. To live in community means committing to love and support the people you live and work with, the conscious decision to attend to their needs, not because they are similar to you, but because you have committed yourselves to each other to better build God’s kingdom together.”
