Nathan Drahms comes to Syracuse from nearby Savannah, NY. He celebrated his 23rd birthday two weeks ago (Happy Birthday, Nathan!) and was a May 2007 graduate of the University of Rochester where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and won several awards for outstanding academic excellence, service and leadership. Nathan was a Resident Advisor for three years and was an active member of campus ministry and director of two campus wide retreats. He has also volunteered in inner-city Baltimore, MD and Rochester. Nathan will be a Youth Mentor at Asian Apostolate and a Case Worker with the Syracuse diocesan Refugee Resettlement program.
“My decision to apply for a faith-oriented volunteer program was a direct result of my faith. Over the past few years, I have begun to take my faith more seriously. In conjunction with my faith journey, I have seen several things in our world which are unjust and need attention. I feel I have been summoned to answer Jesus’ call to help the oppressed. If it were not for my faith, I would not be applying for the unique experiences that FrancisCorps offers.”
