Sisters are a Blessing

August 16, 2012

One of the best parts of FrancisCorps is how the volunteers are supported in their life and service by the Franciscan Friars, Sisters, Seculars and Poor Clare Nuns. We are especially blessed by the wonderful relationship between the Friars and the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities who have acted as special co-ministers. Sr. Caryn Crook, OSF is the present co-minister and she replaced Sr. Ann Kenyon, OSF who had worked with Bro Jim Moore, the previous FrancisCorps director.

This relationship reflects that which existed between Francis and Clare and can be a model of just relationships between women and men in society and in the Church. The Poor Clares in Chesterfield, NJ also provide that unique feminine dimension of the Franciscan family.

Today was a special day for our Sisters of St. Francis who broke ground for a new convent in Salina, NY. Our prayers for blessings accompany them on the construction journey. May the new building quickly move from being a house to becoming a home.
