Pre-K Co-Ordinator/Youth Mentor Job Description
The Bishop Foery Foundation has been running programs for the underprivileged in their local community in Syracuse since 1946. The most basic characteristic of the Bishop Foery Foundation is their concern for youth, expressed specifically through programs that promote educational and social growth.
The FrancisCorps Volunteer working at the BFF would help to coordinate their Pre-K program. The Pre-K program teaches children ages 3-4 basic educational skills, while providing a safe environment for their social development. In addition to developing Pre-K programs, field trips, etc., the FrancisCorps volunteer would also serve as a support person for the Bishop Foery Foundation’s many other after-school programs for teens and youth.
The population served at the BFF includes low income families on the Southside of Syracuse, NY. The Pre-K Coordinator/ Youth Mentor will receive comprehensive training on methods of effective mentoring and tutoring; recruiting volunteers; time and stress management as well as four weekend long personal enrichment programs (retreats) throughout the year.
