We are so pleased to welcome the 9 young women and men who are part of the 17th group of FrancisCorps. FrancisCorps is a volunteer service experience for recent college graduates. They live in community and serve those in need both here in Syracuse and in Costa Rica. During the year they share in 6 retreats and various opportunities for interaction with the Friars, Sisters and Secular Franciscans. This volunteer experience is a ministry of the Franciscan Friars Conventual and expresses the friars’ desire to form young lay leaders who will be imbued with the values of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi.
Here are the 9 new volunteers and their hometown, university and how they will serve this year:
Erin Steiner (Eden Prairie, Minnesota /Saint Louis University) will serve homeless men.
Caroline Johnson (Dallas, Texas / The Catholic University of America) will care for persons with disabilities who have been abandoned.
Johanna Cajina (Silver Spring, Maryland / The Catholic University of America) will mentor “at-risk” girls.
Brady Kegley (Fond du Lac, Wisconsin / Marquette University) will assist seniors.
Blake Daly (Belmont, Ontario / University of Western Ontario) will serve at a home for hospice.
Corrinne Burns (Fremont, Ohio / Bowling Green State University) will help run an after-school program.
Joseph Cuda (North Potomac, Maryland / The Catholic University of America) will assist at a refugee resettlement program.
Marie Schrampfer (Appleton, Wisconsin / Hope College ) will help run an after-school program .
Ana Thesing (Lewiston, Minnesota / University: University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire ) will coordinate a food pantry.
