St. Joseph’s Hospital was founded by Saint Marianne Cope a member of the Sisters of St. Francis in Syracuse. Today the same community of sisters sponsors this health center which is an extremely valuable member of the Syracuse community. The hospital’s outreach to the community is widespread and makes a great impact, especially on the Northside of Syracuse.
Community and Patient Liaison
This position will act as a liaison between SJHHC and our patient populations and neighbors. The position will be engaged in SJHHC education and outreach programming with a focus on the North and West Side neighborhoods, St. Joseph’s Hospital Primary Care Practice patient populations and Emergency Department visitors. Responsibilities may include direct interaction with, and outreach to, patients and neighborhood residents regarding patient resources and support mechanisms for patients visiting the primary care centers. The liaison will work with SJHHC primary care clinic directors, SJHHC neighborhood partner organizations such as Northside Up, and administration, is mobile and may work at multiple sites as necessary over the period of employment.
This ministry site is open to all volunteers and would be of special interest to those who are interested in health care, social work or community organizing.
