FrancisCorps is a small Catholic non-profit that provides recent college graduates with a year-long experience of direct service to the poor while living together in a volunteer community. We have about 12 volunteers each year, some in Syracuse NY and some in Costa Rica.

The Director of FrancisCorps is a Franciscan Friar who recruits the volunteers, reviews the applications, provides the training, manages the program, and offers support through one-on-one meetings and regular retreats. The Director is also responsible for fundraising and development of the program as well as alum relations. Although there are occasional volunteers who help, we need an Assistant Director who will support our Director… someone who can keep him organized and moving forward.

As the Assistant Director (permanent/full-time) you’re able to analyze and anticipate the needs of the Director, which means you’ll also acquire a thorough knowledge of FrancisCorps and the Catholic volunteer service movement. Additionally, you’ll be interacting with the applicants, current volunteers, alums and our sponsoring Franciscan Friars to whom you will represent FrancisCorps. This means you have the ability to perform flawlessly and professionally in a faith-based environment – along with the grace and willingness to change direction when circumstances demand. Other program support functions may be part of your scope of work depending on your skills and experience

You’ll be expected to…

  • Perform an array of administrative tasks (Manage calendars, book travel, and schedule events)
  • Carry out bookkeeping, donor relations and donations processing, bill payments and banking
  • Organize our recruitment efforts and assist with social media
  • Assist with retreats organization and set up
  • Work in Syracuse, NY with flexible hours (a few weekends) and with the possibility of travel

You already…

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree
  • Are super organized and love helping others get organized
  • Speak and write in English very well
  • Are a wiz at using Apple MAC, MS Windows, Office, Quickbooks, Social Media and are quick to learn new software
  • Can be bonded

It is ideal if you…

  • Are familiar with the Catholic Church and the Franciscans
  • Have done a year of service yourself
  • Can speak, read and write in Spanish
